23 Years in Business - where did the time go?

Posted by

It seems like a  life time ago since we first started our business of Christmas Hampers and Gifts - it all started with the idea of delivering Teddies and developed very quickly to doing a small selection of Hampers in 1991.

Oonagh and I were both working at partime jobs when we decided to start the business.  From very small beginnings, we contacted local offices and businesses in Cork - and did lots of cold calling - many of the offices seem to have lots of stairs - I can remember being quite breathless after climbing 5 flights of stairs and carrying 2 hampers to show to a potential customer - and to our great surprise and shock we got our first order which was for 70 hampers from  a local Chemical company who were surprising the staff with a Christmas Hamper.

Now the work began - where would we make up the hampers - and who would  help us? We found a solution very fast and a very cheap one too. My kitchen table became the hub of activity and my two children were great helpers -something that they still remember vividly  to  this day - not with fondness either I must say.   Lots of packing and straw did not make for a tidy house - but we got there and managed to deliver the hampers on time and the customer was delighted -  they ordered again the following year .

They say time flies when you are enjoying yourself - and having spent many years growing the business, the greatest joy is meeting new people both customers and suppliers - we have built up a great trust with both and now have such an amazing array of Artisan Suppliers to help us create the finest Irish Hampers for our loyal customers.

I cannot believe how time has flown and we are now preparing the brochure for Town & Country Hampers 2014 with a bigger and better selection of hampers to choose from. We are still passionate about the business and we think this is portrayed in the fabulous range of hampers for this year.
